Bread of Life INitiative

Bread of Life

“Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

‭‭John‬ ‭6‬:‭35‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Call to Action

Needs of the poor are best met with a participatory approach. We need to do life WITH people in poverty giving them hope. Doing FOR people in poverty reinforces helplessness. With Jesus, no one is helpless. We want to serve others with a potluck approach rather than a soup kitchen. Everyone has gifts, talents, and strengths that can help others.

Food Pantry

We want churches to discover who in their congregation is on food stamps. Focus on helping those who attend your congregation and their families. Designate a leader in your church to assess the needs of your members. Use the suggested  ˅˅˅˅˅˅˅ “grocery list” below to determine necessity. Designate one day a week for them to visit your pantry. Raise funds for perishable items that can be distributed to your members as needed.

Soup and bread

A PARTICIPATORY APPROACH. Let everyone be involved. In your church, workplace, neighborhood, etc. make a pot of soup once a week and then offer soup and bread to those around you who are hungry. Take pictures! Let us know what you are doing and who you are feeding. Post your pictures and comments to the Refuge Mission Page. Let’s encourage each other and find the hope of Christ in each other, not the government.

Service Sunday

Join us in Serving

On the 4th Sunday of March through November we have a Service Sunday. On those Sundays we will have an abbreviated Worship Service (30 Minutes) and then either go out and serve our community or teach practical life classes among our body.

During Service Sundays we may help a family that needs a tree branch from falling on their vehicles. A few people may pressure wash some chairs and tables. Other people in the congregation may attend a Laundry class, a Cooking class, or learn how to change a tire. While the kids may learn different skills such as how to make a bed and organize their toys.

Our Next Service Sunday will be November 23rd. We hope to see you there!

Mark 10:45

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Hello there!

Caring for our Neighbors

Taking care of our neighbors makes for a stronger community. Looking out for one another ensures a safer and happier neighborhood.  When we all do a little, we can do so much!
